Cohesive Elements - too many increments

Hey there ,

as I am new to this forum I`d like say Hello first at all.
I try to model a bending test between a Carbon-reinforced-plastic and steel part, in order to achieve
the bonding parameters for the cohesive elements. Every time I try to run the job, the simulation stops
with the error "too many attempts made for this increment". I tried to modify the parameters of cohesive
elements, but the simulation stops all the time. I uploaded the input file and hope that somebody can give
me some inspiration. Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

It says:

Excessive distortion at a total of 3722 integration points in solid (continuum) elements
Solver problem. Zero pivot when processing D.O.F. 2 of 11 nodes. The nodes have been identified in node set WarnNodeSolvProbZeroPiv_2_1_1_1_3.

I reduced the model to the two plates and the cohesive elements, the error still appears. I searched for the increment error several times, but I
couldn`t find any solutions. Does excessive distortion mean that my cohesive elements are damaged and not removed?

Best regards

Steffus,

I gave your model a quick look. Here are my thoughts.

1. You do not have contact defined. You have an interaction property but no interaction.
2. There are many ties in your model where some could be merged into 1 solid to avoid this constraint.
3. Symmetry could be used to reduce the model size.
4. Meshing the adhesive layer may not be needed since it could be handled with a cohesive layer

I hope this helps.
