How do two designers work on one large assembly together thru collaborative design in CATIA v5. I want to have the whole assembly open, work on some assemblies myself while viewing other assemblies controlled by another designer. Both designers adding parts and changing assemblies and viewing updates in real time.

in real time? no way

you could 'sync' on demand at best with unload/load the other designer assembly.

Are you using PLM or folder based file management?

Even with a PDM system, you will not be able to have more than one user with the ability to modify and save a particular part or product file. What you would need to do is have the user that has authority to modify the file save it to the database as a new revision, and then you can do a "replace component with selected revision" in your product.

Hi,

See the Google link.

For big projects you can't do it easy in another way, only with a PDM system like VPM (for example), users just have to save and/or refresh visualization data in CATIA (but this can be set also to be done automatically at a specific time interval). Is what Eric named synchronization.
