Guys,

I've been thru both threads :
- thread561-253015
- thread561-213967

but honnestly, something is wrong...

Here is the thing: I have a component with mutliple bodies. I've colored them for specific purposes (ie. color coding). I've done this while this work part (let's call it PART_A) was my displayed part.

Then I went up a level, and my displayed part is now PART_B, which is an assy containing PART_A.

Then i needed (to make a screenshot) to color the whole PART_A in assembly context of PART_B. I was unable to do it by simply selecting the whole components, then Ctrl-J to apply a color. So i did the following:

1) Clicked "Edit Object Display"
2) Applied the selection Filter to "Face"
3) Selected all faces of PART_A
4) Colored them in default grey.

When I go back in PART_A, the colors are still then. But in PART_B, there is no way to go back to the origal colors !

I tried the "Properties, Assembly Tab", but the "Specific..." check box is greyed out.
I tried the Part Cleanup, does not work either.

Any clue ? How can i get back the "low level" color so PART_A is always colored the same way, wherever it is ?

I cannot delete PART_A from PART_B and re-introduced it... :)

txs !

Louis

Change the color again, but select the PART_A component (not faces or solids), you can then use Properties -> Assembly Tab, to change the specific component color back.

John, I am using Nx 7.5.4

Anthony : that was it !!!!!

You did the exact thing i was not doing in order to get the check box available: you re-applied a color to the whole component. As it is clearly demonstrated in your video, if you try to go in the Assembly tab without a uniform color applied, it wont' work !

Thanks guys !

P.s. Anthony, what software do you use for video capturing ? I've one or two freeware, but i end up with HUGE files for a few minutes. Are you using a specific codec ?

Louis

Snagit 11 and it uses an MP4 codec, no choice for anything else.
