One of our Product Engineers asked me to take a model of one of our valves and put text on the tags that we put on our valves (we're speaking in terms of the Pro\E model, not the actual valve). My first attempt was to do an extrude and use the Sketch Text command in sketcher so I could create raised text. When he came back and asked if I could put a bar code on the tag, that changed things a bit. I wasn't about to extrued 100 little rectangles to create a bar code. We have a True Type Font in Word that creates bar codes. So I typed up the label in Word as I wanted it to look. I took a screen capture of the image, cropped it, and saved it as a bitmap file. I then created a custom color in my color map in Pro\E and applied the bitmap file to it. I applied this color to the front surface of my label part and alligned it so it looked right. Perfect! It is exactly as I wanted it. However, when I close Pro\E and restart it, my default color map is loaded. Even if I load the color map that I created, the bimap files are no longer attached to the colors I created in the color map. How can I save all of this as a package so I don't have to re-create the colors and re apply them each time I open the model?

Thanks,

Set the config.pro file option - texture_search_path to particular directory where you have kept all your grahics images.(Keep all your graphics images in that directory only)

Cheers.. :)

Pro/E 2001 lets you use true type fonts. You maybe able to use the barcode font in Pro/E.

Also you could use a cosmetic feature or a datum curve instead of a proturusion to create the text and barcode. I have allways done a representation of barcode as a bunch of lines in a sketched datum curve.
