Hi,

In analyzing my reinforced concrete structure, I found that there are large support reaction moments at the bottom of the column. What are the ways to reduce the magnitude of these moments? Will it be reduced if I added additional beams connecting the columns?

What sort of structure is this?

Please post sketch or image along with loading.

One of the options, modelling the supports with springs ( rotational springs ) ..In general , engineers model the support joints assuming full fixity ..You may calculate the rotationa stifness of the footings and introduce to the model.

A sketch would help ..

Before considering a solution, you should find out the reason/source that has caused the large support reactions. It can be a simple mistake in the framing model.

Pin it at the bottom, problem fixed. Adding beams might attract more lateral forces and increase the moment at the bottom.
