I am working on an office building, and have a mechanical space for air handling units adjacent to office space. My question is can I combine both spaces to one sprinklers zone control valve or do I need one for ordinary hazard area and one for light hazard?

CDAFD has the most correct answer for you. However, the short answer to your question is that the floor area protected by one system for an occupancy as you describe is 52k sq ft. It does not matter if all ordinary hazard, all light hazard, or a mixture.

As CDAFD stated, though, this is basically a question that comes up for those in the industry less than 4 weeks. You should really seek oversight from an individual experienced in fire sprinkler systems before you go much further. Good luck on the project.
