is FLOOR CONTROL VALVE the same with ‘combination indicating control valve, pressure-reducing valve and check valve.'? which is required in the combined standpipe system.

Floor control valve is part of the 3 items required which you have listed. Valve, Pressure reducing valve (if pressure exceeds 175) and a check valve.

cdafd, the picture you provided is not a floor control valve but a floor manifold. It provides a package drain and flow switch.

Floor control valves on combination systems are normally butterfly valves with internal tamper switches. Sometimes, you will see an OS&Y valve with a tamper switch.

i was confused because last time i designed a combined standpipe system i used Floor Control Valve but in 6.3.5 of NFPA 14 and 8.17.5.2.2(1) of NFPA 13 both states that "each connection from a standpipe that is part of a combined system to a sprinkler system shall have an individual control valve and check valve of the same size as the connection." so my main concern will be what valve is required for combination standpipe system. Thanks for your help im just new in designing.

Thank you matthew. can you gave me a link of catalogs for that valve used? im having trouble with the specification of that valve.

There are many.

Are you providing Eng drawings or designing this as a project?

yes, i will be providing Eng drawings and specifications for fire protection. im designing 5-storey commercial building using combined standpipe system. And can i ask you about a four way fire department connection? can it be a test connection? coz i put a check valve before the connection.

Tyco, Victaulic, Reliable, Viking, are the major ones. They normally supply for Nibco, Anvil, and the like as well.

4 way FDC is correct for your building (1000gpm). What kind of test connection?

i just ask because our National Fire Code here in the philippines states that "all fire service street connections and test connection, and such sign
shall read “COMBINATION STANDPIPE AND TEST CONNECTION”." that in under the Combination Standpipe system. but i think fire service street connections that we are talking about here is somehow a fire hydrant?

btw thanks a lot im learning a lot from you sir.

Missed that

Looked like one a quick glance

The FDC is for the responding department to pump water in. It is required to have that Combination Sign.

The test connection could be for a Fire Pump. Two very separate animals..

I've done work in the Phillipines. Feel free to give me a call or email.

Combination standpipe just means that the vertical pipe serves sprinklers and hose valves. Matt's diagram is perfect for the description. If you have pressure >175 psi, then you need pressure reducing valves. These are often a listed control valve/check valve.
