I use Eurocodes sometimes, I find them well organized but complex(generalized approach that rarely points to typical range of application) as well.

I guess this is because I can not find commentaries(US codes are great in that they have tons of commentaries and examples)

Anyone knows how I can find commentaries to structural eurocodes?

Commentaries are comments made to major clauses in the code.

They technically explain some issues behind the clause. Thus for example we have used Kv=4+5.34/(a/h)^2 in some case and Kv=5.34+4/(a/h)^2 for other cases for years but some later code revision says Kv=5+4/(a/h)^2 for all cases, then we better get reasons behind that and limits for their use. American codes such as AISC do just that.

Codes not complemented with such work become rigid and tough to use in non conventional applications.

Armed with commentary to a code, you can grasp the limits, you can be more flexible and use your judgement better.

I am sure eurocodes does that but perhaps in publications not called commentaries

Additional Thanks drile007

I have discovered that there are plenty of annexes to the codes too
