I am designing an electrical enclosure for sale in Europe. We use fuses as our means of circuit protection for North American bound machines.

Our component vendor is pushing us towards circuit breakers for our European bound machines because it is supposedly standard convention to use circuit breakers in Europe. This would result in higher cost for these enclosures. Is it true that European electrical panels use circuit breakers or are fuses a widely accepted method of protection as well?

Used to be fuses. But circuit breakers these days. Most people think that fuses look "old" and it is a marketing thing as much as a code thing to use breakers.
