Compacted Layer Soil Material

Jobsite a 6" compacted layer soil material and found this layer has a density of 110pcf and 8" moisture content. Does the density and moisture content changes over time if you test the soil again say a month later (assuming that the 6" layer was not disturb but other outdoor elements are accounted for like rain, sun, etc..)?

The wet density will change with the moisture content; and the moisture content can vary depending on several factors.

The dry density of the material should not change appreciably. This is the parameter by which compaction is checked.

I would expect the wet density to vary every time you check it. The moisture content is factored out of that value to give you the dry density. The dry density is the typical reported value.
