compaction report and soil type

Quick question (I'm not a geotech, so don't be too hard on me here).

Client wants to add to an existing building that was built years back. We don't have the geotech report, but we do have a soil compaction report. Does the soil compaction report indicate that the soil non-expansive? Lab report indicates 110pcf, 10% optimum moisture, ~98% density throughout, down to 4' below grade, per ASTM D-2922.

No, that does not provide enough information on the expansion potential of the compacted soil. You would need to run laboratory testing on the soil to determine that. Talk to your favorite local geotech!

No, this is not the lab report since 98% is the percentage of compaction and 10% is the OMC at the field, not the lab parameters. the client needs the all parameters of the soil that the building has implemented. For the existing building settlement of the soil must be determined, and the general characteristics of the soil must be conducted in the laboratory to ensure the safety of the construction of the project.
