Comparision for the commutation methods for BLDC motors

I would like to know detail analysis for the various block commutation(Active and Passive Freewheeling) and Field Oriented Control(Sensor and Sensorless) control schemes for BLDC motors. regarding the operation principles, pros and cons of each. Can any one please direct me to suitable literature,
