Comparison of UL 1066 and ANSI C37.13

UL 1066 and ANSI C37.13 are recognize standards for Low Voltage Power Circuit Breakers (LVPCB).

Are these standards equivalent, in other works, did ANSI or UL adopted one of these standards from the other organization?

If different, what are the main differences?

Well, ANSI C37.13 was around for quite a while before UL decided to get involved. I've never seen a new breaker that met C37.13 and not UL 1066. The Scope of UL 1066 indicates that it is intended to "supplement" ANSI C37.13.

ANSI develops design standards, but compliance and testing of finished products is up to the mfrs of the equipment. UL is a '3rd party' testing agency, but as such, they have to have a testing standard. For years UL did not have a test standard for LVPCBs, but the 'honor system' among mfrs building to the ANSI standards was fine. However as time went on and problems arose, people began realizing that mfrs could SAY anything they wanted about a product. So I could make my own LVPCB supposedly to the ANSI design standards, and sell it as an 'ANSI designed breaker', but that does NOT mean it really is. If however I take it to UL and have them test it to UL 1066 and it passes, I can make both claims and have an independent 3rd party certification as such.
