As we all know, there are may powerful scientific programs written in FORTRAN. I want to reuse some of them in order not to write them again.

I'm currently using Matlab 6.1. I tried to use "mex", but I discovered that matlab has no fortran compiler, and you have to install one. I installed Digital Visual Fortran, but it is not recommended. I could not compile a REALLY simple program in fortran. Matlab says that it is DEFINETLY recommended to install Compaq Visual Fortran.

Now, the doubt is... Has somebody tried it? Does it really work? In matlab's official page says that only these two compilers are compatible with Matlab's compiler. Are there any more? Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance!!
