in a topology optimization problem do we have an optimum level for compliance ? I mean , is that right to increase the Force to deform the part to plastic point ? I ask it since once I had an elastic material , I had to change the compliance , but I was wondering how much should I change it ? it there an optimum level or something ? and why ? how is it explained by theory ?

I have to do the topology optimization of a cardboard box that under the load , we will have bending of the top surface , and buckling of the side walls ( more likely )

I also want to know , for a topology optimization of a structure that buckling is the main failure that can happen , is it correct idea to do the buckling analysis to use the buckling load as the topology opt load case ?
or we have to excert the maximum load possible that could be more than buckling load ?
