Possible NX11 native bug.
I can't post to GTAC because my account is having issues.
I have a component colored at the part level (it's not a component applied color).
The color displays properly when added via Assemblies -> Add
The color displays properly when Copy / Paste within the same assembly.
The color does not display properly when Copy / Paste to another assembly.
It displays the default grey un-assigned color.
It is not a component specific color (the box is unchecked in both assemblies).
The color cannot be reset by assigning a component level color, then un-checking the component specific color box. It reverts back to the default grey un-assigned color.
The color cannot be reset by Part Clean up-> Component Display -> Remove all changes
The color cannot be changed by setting the Preferences -> Object for Solid Body (or Default) to a specific color (and then pasting the component). It still pastes in as default un-assigned grey.
This behavior clearly doesn't match what's listed in the help docs for Preferences -> Object

The Object Preferences dialog box defines the layer, color, font, and width of new objects. It does not affect existing objects, nor objects created by copying existing objects.
