components for a test box?

This is my problem:
I want to have 12 separate circuits and a master toggle switch to open or close all the circuits, at the same time, when needed. What is the best way to hook this up? Please be descriptive of the components. Relays, contactors, resistors, etc..

Try a micro PLC. They're fairly cheap and a lot of manufacturers make a sale bundle of them with cable and software for programming. You should be able to find one with 12 relay outputs from one of the major manufacturers. For example:
GE Fanuc: IC200UDR006
Allen-Bradley: 1761-L32BWA or 1761-L32BWB
These are just a couple I can think of off the top of my head. You'll have to look for others. By the way, you didn't specify any voltage or current specs for your I/O, so the PLCs I mentioned above may not work.

Max voltage is 9V. I would need something like a surge protector, but much smaller. Does anyone know how a surge protectors is wired?
