can you do a calc in catia for composiet´s
since there is a mat. option for fiber mat and anisotropic mat
but when you try to make a tube it cannot do that in composiet
so even to do a calc of 2 tube´s is that possible
or do i something wrong?
Do you mean do a stress analysis of the bdy using composite materials definitions from CATIA?
I think it works with simdesigner (MSC) but don't know if the native solver supports it.
Do you have any tutorials/guides to the composite module (except for the CATIA help)?
yes that what i mean in catia at it seems does not support
tubing at least you can not fold a layer over a solid
or make in any other way a tube
i liooked in the tutorials /guides and also i did a quik look with MSC simdesigner nothing only mention of flat plate´s
i think due to the hex mesh and only supports isotropic
with is strange since you can define the fibers and directions
only no clac with i find kind of stupid
so must be my short coming
as far as I know, solid elements can't be defined as laminate. For laminte use shell elements, and then the properties are orthotropic.
If you are modeling a single material layer, then it can be orthotropic, but it won't have layers.
i understand that but if you make a model in a core
like foam as basis and want to wrap around layers oc carbon in a weave like pultrusion
or simply a round layup of you you can define it as a shell then othotropic but catia would not let me
?
it must be me that does not understand it
must be in the mesh model
hence it must be 3d
so what i do
1 simply draw a profile in sketcher then exit
2 extrude make a shell out of it
3 goto composite module
4 drap a layer around it
and this cannot be done why not?
and why can you not calc a tube in composite
