I am presently running NX5.0.6 on an HP Z800 Desktop Workstation with Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3. I want to install Windows 7 Pro but if NX requires a new Composit my software is not under service, what if anything cahn I do.

Thanks

Even though you're off maintenance, as long your license was legitimate when you purchased it, I would still contact GTAC as they may still be able to help you. No guarantee, but you don't have anything to lose.

I believe (the last time I dealt with it a few years ago) that the CID is dependent upon the MAC address, in which case installing a new O/S should not affect the MAC address.

I had a severe windows crash, corrupted registry, Windows did not start at all.
I then bought a new disk drive, swapped the new into the computer and placed the old ( all files ok except the OS) into a separate cabinet, then installed Windows Xp from scratch on the new internal disk.
This did not require/produce a new Composite ID.

I work in support for NX and deal with CIDs all the time. In most cases the CID will not change if updating the OS.
Having said that I have seen a customer system, that switching from the original Windows 7 to XP the CID changes. They then decided to go back to Windows 7 and the CID changes to the first one they had with preinstalled Windows 7.

I also had a laptop, that was upgraded from Win XP 32 bit to Win XP 64 bit, then to Vista 64 bit, then to Windows 7 64 bit over a couple of years. The CID never changed. I then reformatted with Windows 7 64 bit and the CID changed.

I always warn customers, if they ask, to be prepared for it to change. It may not, but it can.

Thanks to all those with answers to my question about the Composit ID.
I will start by contacting GTAC.

Thanks John for you input.
