I'm interested in the use of honeycomb type structures outdoors in the desert. Is there a source of information regarding different materials environmental resistance to; UV, rain, ice, snow, wide temperature excursions, plus coatings for composites that aid in environmental controls? In my search I am leaning towards a boat manufacturer Nidacore in Florida, since their wet layups handle salt environment and stay together. Another manufacturer noted UV breakdown in honeycomb if edges are nopt properly sealed. There is concern about moisture penetration affecting the antennas placed in our composite box.
Thanks,
kch

Hexcel composite breaks down due to UV, so you have to coat the edges. I wonder how much UV gets thru paint layers onto new Airbus aircraft tails?

Nidacor is a natural (un stabilised) Polypropylene: it is effected, seriously and quickly by UV. It must be protected.
