Composite modelling using solid laminates (PCOMPS)

Hi all,
I've been attempting to model a complex structure using solid laminate properties. The structure is complex as each ply is actually made up of different patches of plies running in different directions.
For example, the top ply has a region with 0 degree plies, and another region with 45 degree plies. On top of that, the section is quite thick (Upwards of 50 plies thick).
To model this problem I decided to use multiple elements through the thickness, and 'repeat' the lay-up stack down the thickness (as it's Quasi isotropic, the lay-up naturally repeats). This allows me to re-use a single layup and property multiple times through the thickness. For the 'patches' of different layup I simply assigned different lay-ups to those regions.
The model runs fine, but I am having difficulty postprocessing to give the necessary result outputs and to interpret the outputs correctly. So I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone may be able to help with :)
1. I need to visualise the complete Failure Index plot for the entire laminate. Can I simply envelop all the Failure results for all failure directions across all plies? I haven't looked too much into this but my first attempts were not successful.
2. Can I use the "Custom tools - postprocessing - Laminate Envelope Failure Indices" with solid laminate sections? I have not been able to find info on how this works, and so have not been able to use it.
3. Separately, I am struggling to find the best way to number the plies considering the piecewise changes in stacking sequence across the surface. Is it ok to assign two different direction plies to the same global stack number? For instance, in one lay-up assign the first global ply ID to the first ply (45 deg) and in the next lay-up assign the same global ID to a ply with a different orientation (0 degree). Will this impact on the transformation of strains during the Failure index calculation?
4. When 'repeating' lay-ups through multiple elements through the thickness, is it best to remove global ply IDs?

Thanks for reading and any help you can give!
