I am designing compound gear train for air RAM parachute system. Is there any website or any resource to get force analysis details of compound gear train
Anyway, a gear train design is a complex process involving force and torque analysis, gear dimensioning, gear manufacturing, environmental issues, etc. It is not clear if this is for a commercial or a military ram air parachute system where the design and regulation methodology is different. If it is for one time use or multiple uses the design procedure will be completely different.
Sounds like you need a good solid textbook. The two Dudley books already mentioned are excellent for all aspects of gear design and analysis. If you want a book from which to learn gear force analysis, I can also recommend either:
1) Mechanism Design, Analysis and Synthesis, G.N. Sandor and A.G. Erdman.
2) Mechanisms and Dynamics of Machinery, H.H. Mabie, C.F.Reinholtz.
Both books have good chapters on gear force analysis, but also cover other mechanisms.
I know you are hoping to find a handy website, and there are many. But given the consequences of errors in your design, I highly recommend using only verified sources of information. Of course, also have your design checked by an experienced engineer, and I assume some sort of testing program is in order.
Do you mean compound planetary drive? If so, there are some good articles written in machine design over the years. You can contact them and they will be able to help you.
Thanks to all for suggesting solution for my problem.
Its spur gear train, and now i designed gear box by refering books written by Joseph Edward Shigley.
As ERT suggested,i need to get verify my design from
any senior person in designing of gears.
I request here, anyone willing to verify dis design
i am ready to send details.
Designing a gearbox for air RAM parachute system is a serious business if it is for an actual product. If this is the case then it is not a serious approach to ask for a voluntary help to verify your design. If it is a student project then read the bottom of this forum page which specifically says "Promoting, selling, recruiting and student posting are not allowed in the forums".
Hi israelkk
Sorry,i really dont mean dat, its get mistaken i dont mean
to give whole design to cross check.
actaully driven gear shaft(2) has two gears,i am having doubt at force distribution shaft(2).For ex
1-drive shaft having gearA
2-driven gear shaft got 2gears lets take gearB & gear C
3-another shaft which is having gear D
now gear A(shaft1) is in contact with gearB(shaft2)
and gear C(shaft2) is connecting with gear D
now i am having doubt in analysing force analysis for shaft 2 which is having two gears
I do not know if you have the correct analysis background but if you are a B.Sc. graduate of an academic institution for mechanical engineering or an aerospace engineering you should be able to do the force analysis based on the books used during the four years at the university.
If you do not have the appropriate background you should not do the job. If you fail to analyse correctly someone may get hurt.
More than that, analysing and designing a gearbox need more than what the university teach added to experience.
