Compressed Air Useage 2

Hello.
Just looking for some guidance on compressed air useage for various refinery turn-around tools, including air stations located throughout a refinery operating unit.
Trying to determine representative plant air capacity requirements for a new compressor installation

I don't have any refinery or turnaround specific information or experience but the link below was helpful for a shop and instrument environment. From my experience, it's tough to make educated guesses unless you can nail down the actual demand for air. There are some rules of thumb out there (and in the link) that either worked for me or I plain lucked out.

You stated a new compressor, and seeing how there are very few, if any, new refineries going up that I know about, you must have an old compressor you are replacing. I would ask the operators about their needs and problems during the last few turnarounds. Also talk to the folks in planning; they have a tremendous amount of information regarding temporary air compressor usage in the past. With that info, you should be able to determine what might be reasonable.

What if you calculate all of the air for the tools you think the turnaround guys need and it differs dramatically from what the operators stated they need based on previous turnarounds. At that point, will you end up providing what the experienced hands state they need or stick to a calculated value?

What did the guys in the shop and the operators say about this?
