I was assigned to find the optimum point to overhaul the compressor. First, I tried to find the polytropic efficiency tendency in MS Excel but it show such a linear line parrarel with x-axis (hour of operation). Does anyone have an idea what parameter should I consider instead of efficiency.

what component(s) has failed or worn out in the past?

oil analysis, compression/leak down test(reciprocating compressor), historical valve life (reciprocating compressor), manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule, cost to replace if run-to-failure.

If your compressor is a centrifugal (I don't know why people with centrifugal compressors always assume that everyone knows that the only kind of compression in the world is centrifugal, people with PD machines generally say what kind of compressor they are working on), then I would do a Google search on "Key Performance Indicators Centrifugal". The literature is full of amazingly pedantic discussions of how to choose KPI's, what they mean, and how to apply them to maintenance schedules.

thanks, yes the compressor I'm working on is centrifugal.
