Computer Temperature measurement

I would like to contruct a Computer Temperature measurement device. I am a newbie to electronics and this is a project that I would like to do to learn and use the device. I am thinking of something that would use a thermistor as input and hopefully digital LED displays as output. I am wondering if zanyone has any ideas on what I will need and the best way to accomplish this or somewhere that I can find the information myself. Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

Are you trying to measure the temperature inside your computer or measure various temperatures using a computer?

If you are building something to measure temperature inside the computer (or other equipment) and use this info to drive an external signal (fan, LED)you can check

website, they have a single chip solution for this task, the TC642 and other in that page that can help you in your tasks, and usualy you can buy some of this parts at Digikey.com or Jameco.com

Don't forget that most newer processors have on-chip temperature sensors, which cannot be duplicated in function by external sensors. The case temperature is highly dependent on convention cooling, while the on-chip sensors are a great deal more accurate about junction temperature since it's actually a junction on the same substrate as the hottest junctions.
