Hi guys!
I'm trying to model a part of a precast reinforced concrete structure, a beam and a column tied together with dowels.
I must obtain a result very similar to an experiment performed by the university laboratory.
I'm using Abaqus/Explicit, because with Abaqus/Standard I have numerical problems, and the analysis fails.
The analysis consists in applying a displacement to a part of the model.
I chose a very slow speed, and even though the kinetic energy of the model (ALLKE) is very low in comparison with the total energy (ALLIE), the shape of the kinetic energy function that I obtained is not as smooth as I expected, but very "jagged". In fact, the reaction force of the costraint is very jagged too.
Moreover, the analysis is very slow.
I think that the problem is the model of concrete, that is a very brittle material, and in my opinion this "instability" of the energy is due to it.
I used the "concrete damaged plasticity" to model the concrete behaviuor, and I put into the model cohesive elements to model the interaction between the concrete and the steel reinforcement.
