I have a situation where the plans call for a 3 inch slab thickness and 1 1/2" form deck was installed instead of 9/16" specified. Joist spacing is 2'-0". The 1 1/2" deck itself is strong enough to carry service loads. I am concerned about less than 2" cover over flutes. Can the concrete be considered non structural filler and use a light gage mesh to keep it from cracking?

Is your situation not specified in Vulcraft ?

I agree with ron9876, check your fire ratings. If this is for a corridor in an appartment building you maybe non-compliant.

There are days when I wake up feeling like the dumbest man on the planet, then there are days when I confirm it.

I did find an SDI reference to 1 1/2" min cover over the top flute which provided some assurance. I beleive Vulcraft calls for a min of 2", but then using 1 1/2" deck for 2' spans would not be all that common, I would think.

It's an open mezzanine so fire separation should not be an issue. I was going with 1.4 wire 3/4" from the top. We can tolerate some cracking as there will be a floor covering. thanks for replies.
