Is there any literature out there that address conduit or pipe embedded in composite concrete slabs? Electricans here argue that they do it all the time, but I'd like to get something in writing to prove them wrong.

I do not have access today to my copy of ACI 318, but there is a section in there that addresses this very issue.

Loui,

Conduit embedded in any type of concrete member is perfectly fine and covered in Section 6.3 of ACI318. There are some restrictions about the location, spacing, maximum percent of the area of the cross section, etc. Just make sure they are not using aluminum conduit.
