Hi![cheers]

Pls, help me.

Does anyone have a cone roof project of storage tank? The volume of the storage tank is 3000 cbm (792516.1 US liquid gallons)

There is no need that the drawing has to be exactly 792516.1 gallons. It could be e.g. 800 000 gallons.

I'm not an english native speaker, also I don't really know, what do you use to describe storage tank volume. I'm apologize in advance.

Dear MJCronin!

My company operates in the Azerbaijan and we have many typical projects, which SOCAR use, so we never met a problem with the designing new drawings. All our drawings was designed many years ago and was approved by the Ministry of Industry. Last week we got a new request from BP, that need 27 conical roof oil tanks with maximum filling capacity 3000 cubic meters. In their request wasn't any drawing, just technical information such as volume, dia, parts, standards, etc. And we don't have ready project of conical roof oil tank with the 3000 cbm volume. We have to estimate project approximately and offer them a commercial proposal. This is why I'm looking for a cone roof project for a 3000 cmb or smth like that.

Have I clarified misunderstanding?

Of course we'll book a new project for this order in case if BP will approve our price policy

Sorry me again for my french[wink]

Yes, I think so - Basically you're looking for someone to provide you with drawings of a tank of similar size so you can price it up.

Not clear if 3000 m3 (not cbm by the way - no one uses that abbreviation - it stands for coal bed methane) is "nominal" size or working volume. Nominal is bigger than working by about 10 to 15%.

You really need to employ a designer to design one to presumably API 650. In Azerbaijan you'll need to include for seismic design loads as well as the normal ones. BP didn't send drawings only a data sheet because they will have assumed any one bidding for it would have that expertise in house or available to them.

For starters at 3000 m3, you'll probably end up with a tank about 10m high, 20m in diameter.

If you're asking an internet forum for details like this I'm not sure you're ready to build tanks for a company like BP....

Dear LittleInch!

Thank you for your attention to this topic

Yes, you understood me right, we need a drawing of a tank, that have an approximately similar dimensions. Here is the exact specification they sent us:

Diameter:____________________I.D. 16500mm
Cylindrical height:_____________15500mm
Design Code:____________________EN 14015
General specific.:______________Poerner
Capacity:_______________________3000 m3 NETTO
Wind load:______________________max 32 m/sec
Seismic factor:_________________acc. to AZN10 seismic intensity 8

I didn't mention some of specifications because they have no value for the dimensions.

Actually, yes, we need our own designer, at least for that cases. When we need new projects we address to designing company, but it is too expensive. In most cases customers give us a ready project.

We're not a designing company. We don't have lab, we don't have construction/designing department. What we have is a wide range of necessary equipment and specialists that can use it. We're a small company with the 100 workers. So exactly we ready to build storage tanks for BP, but as I said before, we can't design new projects.
If we'll get more job, of course we'll employ a desingning department.

But now, we have to approximately price that order.

I don't have anything like that available, but I would suggest you get an arrangement with a designer to provide you with the information you need for bidding on the basis they get the detailed design work if you win the job, or you agree a figure for bidding costs.

In any event I would imagine that the bid requires you to submit details of who would be doing the design....

To provide a price for that many tanks based on something someone else did seems quite a high risk.

Gross volume of the tank for those dimensions is about 3,200 m3.

I design API 650 tanks all the time but you need to find someone in your area with this skill set that is familiar with the soil conditions, building codes, zoning ordinances, wind, rain, snow and seismic loads, material availability, fabrication and shipping capacity, relative costs of material and labor, etc.

I suggest omit the design and material part in your offer . Just give them your rates for manpower and equipment. Otherwise it looks like you will be chewing more than you can swallow. Even if you try BP would recognise your lack of experience at the bidding stage anyway.
