Dear all,

I would like to know if anybody knows a method to calculate the junction ring (stiffening ring)for a cone to cone junction. This case is useful when you have a very large diameter cone, and you want to use different thicknesses along the cone, collocating stiffening rings for external pressure.

I know that the standard methods are for calculating Large and Small Ends stiffening rings. I want to know if I can use the same method for intermediate stiffening rings and consirer them as lines of supports.

See file attached.

Thank you very much and regards,

Inki, it appears to me that intermediate stiffening rings only need be designed per UG-29.

Dear SnTMan,

I agree with you, and that is what we already done with our software, but I would like to receive opinions of others just because it is not specifically mentioned anywhere.

Thank you!

Inki, other opinions always good :)

Mike
