can anyone help me with this

After reading the documentation I still cant quite get anything to start, appear or behave the way i want it to.

basically

changed and saved syscol.scl so i dont have the bland gray background

go to options then change my default templates to metric rather than imperial as its quite tedious unticking the use default template box change to read new syscol.scl file then save the file

quite where it saves i just dont know but i close wf2.0
restart and im back to square one, the default startup
hasnt changed and

im now getting a bit perturbed that i have more config.win files on my system than work

another little quirk is that every time i do a drawing of a part i use metric template, insert dims and every dimension is a max-min tolerance of the number entered for example 13mm
comes in at 12.99-13.01 not 13 im sure this can be set but i have to change every dimension manually im pulling my rapidly thinning hair out now.

and lastly is there a way to get pro to show me 13g as 13 g rather than 0.00 instead of a number to the power of i would like it to show me that 100g is a kilo not 0.001 to the power

i just like that kind of thing

anyone can help your a saint

Hi G1DESIGN

The following config.pro setting will help.

pro_unit_length set to unit_mm
tol_mode set to nominal
config.win should be in the same directory as config.pro directory.

this tells you about the config settings.

Hope this helps

sorry by the way that should be 1000g is a kilo

thanks tofflemire ill try the above

my config.pro lives in C:\Program Files\proeWildfire 2.0\jlink\jlink_appls\jlink_elev is this correct

i did a search on the system and this was the onlyconfig.pro it could find

That doesn't look like the right spot for the config.pro you should be working with (unless you start from that folder ?).

Search back through the forum for all the possible locations for config.pro's at startup, but the one I work with most of the time is in my starting working directory. Some are project specific so I just create new desktop icons that start in the correct folder and thus load up all the options I need for that particular client or project. To have it start in that folder, copy your Pro/E shortcut icon, right click on it, and change the "Start in" location.

I recommend the 3dlogix Config.pro Mentor as well for searching through all of these options and making one that is just right for you. (kudos Steve)

justkeepgiviner turns out my config pro was hidden the jlink is a sample thanks for the pointers guys that helped a lot

Everything hunky dory now I used to know how to do this but its been 2 years since I last used pro e (using solidworks)
and Ive forgotten a hell of a lot

ps is it possible to add a note to a dimension in sketcher
for example a 200dia construction circle i want to read 200 p.c.d intead of just 200 will it then show in my drawing.

cheers mike

Not in the sketch itself, but if you finish the feature, press Edit, select the dimension and go into it's properties, you can edit the text to say what you need it to.

thanks i knew id seen this pop up box before

both guys you helps been a godsend

many thanks

FYI, I made a FAQ Configuration file resources (faq554-1172) from the links posted above. If anyone has more links, please forward them to me through the FAQ form.
