Hello,

I would like to add the configuration description to my title block...this is the "property" that is in the configuration properties manager when you RMB the properties in any configuration. If I make a check in the "use in BOM", it comes up just fine in my BOM. I want to make use of the description elsewhere (as said in the title block) and cannot figure out what this SW property is. Is this accessible as a property? It is almost as if it is not a normal property and hidden in the Configuration Name property somehow, but not accessible for use (other than the BOM).

Thanks
Paul

In a related question, I am surprised that I cannot turn on and off different layers among sheets in my drawing file? In other words, making a layer visible in one sheet carries over to all the other sheets. Is there and option to restrict layering to one sheet in a multiple sheet drawing file?

I am hoping to use layers to modify my title block on certain sheets which are 95% identical. Right now I have multiple sheet format files with these small differences, and it seemed "efficient and logical" to make one sheet format file and leverage layering to do the same....but this might be a show stopper.

Thanks
Paul

Sounds like you need to spend some time with Enhancement Requests in the customer portal of SW. I know I have sent several ER in and sometimes they do change thing in SW.

Sorry Chris,

These are good help pages for the configurations workflow, but does not get into where these properties are "stored". I might be at a wall here, and surprised this is not available...by the way, I recognize you as the material database guy! Nice work, and it is been years since I looked into yours since I upgraded to SW 12 from 06, their DB is much improved. Wondering if yours is still better :)

Paul,

When you are editing the drawing sheet format and get to the title block insert your line of text such as "Configuration: ". While still in this text box go to the Note dialogue box on the left of the screen. Under Text Format and under the input box for degrees is the icon for Link to Property (2nd icon from left). Clicking that will bring up another box with three radio buttons. Pick the middle button for Model in view specified in sheet properties then click the drop-down arrow to pick SW-Configuration Name (Configuration Name). Done.

Hi Updraft,

The "property" I am looking for is not in the drop down list, it is the configuration description (not the name) and also the PN override that is in the config properties. These pop up in a BOM if the check is selected, but it does not look like I can use these outside the BOM.
