I'm fairly new to Pro-E and have a few questions regarding its configuration. How do I configure it so the model comes up solid instead of wire frame? How do I set it so all datum’s are turned off when I open a file for the first time? How do I set the view performance to default to the settings I want? I've looked in the config.pro and can't find the controls for these settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you are correct to go to config.pro how you change it depends on what version you are running. In 2000i you have to click on "in session" and then choose "show all settings" I do not have Pro-e in front of me now, so the pick names are not exact. I'll give a better discription from work tomarrow.

Config.pro options that can control what you are looking for (default values in paren):
To control startup mode of display options...
DATUM_DISPLAY (yes),no
AXIS_DISPLAY (yes),no
DISPLAY_COORDINATE_SYS (yes),no
To set startup display mode for part/assy...
DISPLAY (wireframe),hiddenvis,hiddeninvis,shade
To adjust view performance through config...
FRAMES_PER_SECOND (yes),no
FRAMES_PER_SECOND_VALUE (3)

These settings came from 2000i2 config, but since they are basic settings, I would imagine they are identical to 2000i.

Also, if you can get your hands on the Pro/E 2000i2 documentation CD, you will find a host of .pdf files comprising a comprehensive manual. One of these files contains ALL config options available for 2000i2. I found it pretty handy to just copy the directories of .pdf files to my local hard drive for quick reference.
