Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had a solution or workaround for the following:

I have a Extrude-Cut Feature that has one dimension that is different for two configurations. My question is: can the tolerance be different for the two configurations? Is there any other work-around for this?

I suppose I can copy the sketch and create another Extrude-Cut feature for the alternate configuration. If I copy the sketch, can I edit it without changing the original sketch? Anyone know an easier way?

Thanks in advance,
Chris Marinelli

Maybe someone else has, but I have not found a way to do this. (Not with a regular dimension anyway. I have toyed with the idea of using a linked note but have not actually tried it.)

Another method you might try is to put a reference dimension with the other tolerance and somehow note it belongs to the other configuaration.

You can easily do that in a drawing. Doing that in a model, I doubt.

I ran into this issue a while back, working with go- no/go gages. There is no way to have one dimension with different tolerances by configuration. The only thing you can do is add a driven dimension in the drawing and tolerance it. I put in an enhancement request but nothing so far...maybe it's time for a few more of us to ask for it.

I think Regg has it right. The best way to handle it is to hide the dimension and manually add another dimension with the appropriate tolerance.

Thanks to everybody who responded!
