Could anybody give me an idea about the term "confinement ratios" in concrete structure? What does it mean, how to calculate it,.. and all other things around.
Thanks very much

Confinement refers to beam-column joints of a concrete rigid framed structure, specifically with respect to shear in the joint from connecting beams and how transverse beams help resist shear. ACI 352R-91 talks about this condition.

"Reinforced Concrete Design", by Wang and Salmon, also has a very good description of confinement [paragraph 11.3].
