Conflicting Specs? in MS9006C, Cross Recesses for Machine Screws 1

Hi all.

I have a question about the Milspec MS9006, Cross Recesses for Machine Screws. I have attached an image made from parts of the MS9006C pdf, showing where it appears that the specs conflict. Using Nom. Size "5" as an example, it looks like they are specifying a diameter for the tool (W), that is way smaller than the diameter (G), which is a smaller tapered part of the tool. Am I missing something here?

Hm...Looks like I MIGHT be confusing a nominal size "5" screw, with "recess number 5".

Can someone chime in on this?

You are mixing apples and oranges!

The image on the left is for #5 phillips screw driver.
The image on the right is for #5 screw with a cross cut (phillips) drive.

Your #5 screw uses a #2 screwdriver.
Now compare the numbers.

So I was correct in my second post. Thanks for clarifying that.

Odd though, that they give screw specs and Phillips specs in the document, but they do not appear to match them up to one another. I suppose that is up to the reader to understand which driver to use with which screw.
