Connecting EN 13445 Vessel to ASME Piping

Please excuse me from asking what maybe a basic question:

Can an EN designed vessel be connected to piping designed to ASME B31.3. Assume the connection is a flanged nozzle to DIN. The design engineer then designs a suitable mating flance to ASME with the DIN flange dimension.

What issues can arise as a result of this?

This has been done and is very common in South America. I've typically seen the vessel flanges having ANSI to accomodate the piping.

Where is the installation?

The installation is in the Middle East. Main specifications call for ASME but right now some suppliers of systems from Europe are proposing for EN so I am concerned that the installation will end up with a bit of both, and being unclear on whiich Code ultimately governs.

Materials, e.g spare parts may also end up being doubled because of this.

Hi all,

It is very common with our equipment. We design our vessels according to EN 13445 and the flanges are also designed according to EN 13445-3 clause 11 or the annex G.

Flange drillings are according to ASME. In other words, the thickness of flange and materials and so, are calculated according to EN, but the drillings are same as in ASME.
