Can anybody give me a good steel reference or two regarding Large Truss or Braced Frame connections(k-bracing or inverted v bracing). Preferably with lots of examples. Thanks in advance.

I have several books with examples. For welded connections, Omar Blodgetts is the best and it is so cheap, like at $20.00 you can never buy a better structural engineering book. It is available from the Lincoln Arc Welding Foundation in Cleveland. I attended many lectures by Omar and I think he is the best in the world when it comes to welding.

Indre Jett Handa published a structural engineering handbook with nothing but solved examples.

I hope this helps

There are some pdf's you can download for free from the Corus Tubes website ( Go to 'info centre', then 'publications'. 'Design of SHS welded joints' gives the fomulas, 'Design of SHS welded joints supplement' is additional info, 'Design of SHS joint examples' and 'SHS welding' would also be worth a download.

CIDECT publish some good books;
'Design Guide for rectangular hollow section (RHS) joints under predominantly static loading'
'Design Guide for circular hollow section (CHS) joints under predominantly static loading',
'Design Guide for circular and rectangular hollow section welded joints under fatigue loading'

These can be obtained from the Steel Construction Institute here in England ( at £15 each.

Software for tubular joint analysis can be bought from CSC, Leeds, England ( An old British Steel program can be currently downloaded from my own website;

Hope this helps!
