I just received a job that deals with the support of scafolding for a window washer. I've tried looking up information and have reached dead ends on everything so I'm wondering if anyone else has ever had to design the support for the scafolding structure. It's hanging off the masonry wall of the building and the client sent information over on hoist rings that he got from Grainger but it specifically states not to use those to support people. The load has to eventually get into the roof diaphragm, which is wood and even finding some sort of connection to transer the load from the wall to the roof is difficult (5000 lb load in 4 places). Any suggestions?

information about scaffolding can be found on the OSHA website.

also, you can go to Pro-bel website for various scaffolding configurations.

transferring the load is tough for older buildings. I worked on an old hotel constructed in the early 1900's, ended up using the swing stage scaffolding and spreading the load with spreader beams above the roofing. nothing was used to impose loads on the walls, only the roof.
