Hello,
I am very new to PLCs, I am kind of leaning as I help someone out. The company that I work for has purchased a 1747-UIC to connect to our SLC 500 PLCs. We are haveing no problems connecting to the SLC on the first try but after being connected for a few minutes, sometimes only seconds the connection is dropped, we are then not able to connect again. This is not only happening on the SLC 500 but also using a usb/serial to connect to the Micrologic 1000's. We have only experienced this with one computer running windows XP, all of the other computers have no problem connecting using previous OS's and the 1747-PIC. I hope this is an easy fix, but I am worried that because it is just the one computer that it might be a software issue. If more information is needed I will be gald to provide it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Josh

Your computer (presumably a laptop) is probably turning off your USB ports to conserve power. Try disabling the "selective suspend" feature.

In Device Manager, find your device and locate the parent USB hub that it is connected to. From properties, go to the Power Management tab and make sure “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” is not checked.

If that doesn't work, go to the following link to disable power saving among all USB devices.
