Hi Gents,

I would like to know and learn (by explanation), about the case i am facing now,

to running WPS for dissimilar material (F316L to UNS N08904), using electrode ERNiCrMo-3
is it suitable?

as this case is regarding to Total Project, so for the code use
GS PVV 611 (Welding of pressure containing piping and equipment)

Total GS PVV 611 seems have no recommendation for the material (UNS N08904) that related to the choose of suitable filler metal to be used.

as per my search that this filler metal ERNiCrMo-3 have a high Ni percentage content (64%)
seems for inconel 625 type material for high temp. operational (above 815 celcius degree)

Please help me and really appreciate for any of your technical base explanation

Regards

Normally Id first go to API RP 577 when you have dissimilar weld joints, but that standard (afaik) doesn't detail this specific case.

However, although both materials are austenitic (904L even superaust.), they're chemistry is too much of spec to use a common ER309L (Ni-content in ER309L is lower than in 904L).
Hence you're suggestion of ERNiCrMo-3 is OK I think, as it either matches or overmatches the Ni and Cr content found in 904L.

Contact your supplier/vendor for filler metals and check w/ them. Maybe some others at this forum can comment on my suggestion.
Also, do a check using the WRC/DeLong diagram to see if youre good in terms of ferrite content.
