Constant Flow System Applications

Sorry for posting it one more time but seems the post was deleted as I cannot find it on forum and in my threads.

In a constant flow chilled water system with 3 – port valves, 2 PCHWP what is the standard way of controlling of the system during the low load conditions? Does switching OFF one of the pumps is acceptable ? IS there is a risk of starving some of the circuits in such a scenario?

Maybe because it doesn't seem to make sense. If it's constant flow why are you turning pumps off?

If the system is designed with multiple chillers, and we are operating during part load conditions why do we need to run two chillers at low efficiency point? From energy point of view it will be much more economical to load just one chiller and switched off on of the CHWP.

My concern is if its feasible form the hydraulically point of view and if it wont cause starvation of some of the circuits.
 
Depends if one chiller can handle the flow.

Either that or turn one off, but flow through it and run the second one based on the combined flow temperature going out.

Very difficult to tell based on no data or schematic.

Or just set up a flow controlled bypass round your single chiller

The reason it was taken down is likely because it violates board policies.

This board is not a free Engineering service.

Hire an Engineer who will help you with this.
 
I am an engineer and I see it as a normal question to other engineers who has already experience with this issue. If we will fallow this logic all of the question asked here on the forum should end up with the comment "Hire an Engineer who will help you with this"
