Hi to All,

I have been asked to design a constant voltage transformer, also known as ferroresonance transformers, 30W output power, 230VAC input, 6KV AC output.
I am not too woried about the 6KV bit as i specialise in HV power supplies, but i need some help in the primary side, i have been told that i need an extra winding in series with the primary and connect it to a fairly large capacitor.

Does anybody know how to design these type of transformers, any calculations out there?.

Thanks in advance.
ALex.

Well, it was for years a design patented by Frank Sola, the founder of Sola Electric, but I believe those original patents have expired so it is possible you could get an idea from them if they were willing to share that level of detail.
