I am trying to set up a contact analysis between a lifting pin and the inner surface of the lifting bracket hole, both have different diameters.

When setting up the connection 2 contact areas must be defined. Is this the contact area before material deformation begins? Bearing in mind the initial contact point at the tangent of 2 cylinders of different diameter will be infinitely thin and will only become an area with thickness when both parts begin to deform.

Has anybody come across a similar problem and if so how was the contact area set up?

Inputs are as follows:

Radius of pin - 60 mm
Radius of lifting bracket hole - 62.5 mm
lifting load - 1 000 000 N
