If I use Linear TET4 and Linear HEX8 I have a compatibl mesh and I can merge the nodes, but If I want to use parabolic Tet10 elements instead of Tet4, due to mid nodes I'm not having the Compatible mesh between two surfaces.

I would like to define the contact with out using the Bsurf Cards!

Please share the info If it is possible.

Thanks!

PS: For example consider two flat plates one with Tet10 and the other with HEX8

Helo!,
Well, please forget at all the use of TET4 elements, instead use ALWAYS TET10 if HEX meshing is not possible.

Regarding mixing TET10 & HEX8 elements in the interface you have the following options:

Mesh transition using PYRAMID elements: this is one of my preferred methods, to create transitional pyramid elements between the tetrahedral mesh and an adjacent hexahedral mesh. Pyramid elements offer several advantages over using rigid elements or multi-point constraint equations to connect dissimilar meshes. Pyramid elements provide a direct transition from hexahedral elements to tetrahedral elements, thus ensuring a conforming mesh, and result in greater solution accuracy and reduced solution time.

Surface-to-Surface GLUE contact: this is very effective as well, this allows the user to have different mesh density in both parts that need to be tied or glued together to prevent any relative motion between them.

Best regards,
Blas.
