Hi:

I was wondering if anyone has found a good refresher course for the design of earth retaining structures. The current building codes in our area require engineered design of retaining walls exceeding 3 ft in height. Yeah, I can buy software that does the design, but, I won't do that until I have taken some training in retaining wall design. I haven't done much of this type of design since undergraduate classes and that was a lot longer ago then I care to advertise.

There are no local engineering or technical schools, so, that option is out of the picture. Possibly, there are courses on-line that you may have some experience with. Many that I've found don't appear to be all that I could hope for. Any recommendations? Thanks,

You might check into some of PileBuck's offerings.

Basics of Retaining Wall Design by Hugh Brooks is pretty short and sweet for a refresher. It used to come with the "RetainPro" software but now must be bought separately.

Thanks for your input. I'll check into both suggestions.
