"Structural Engineering" magazine has started a Professional Development Series, sponsored by the Portland Cement Association. The September 2005, issue includes an in depth self-study article on "Design of Reinforced Concrete Floor Systems". Answer & mail in the 10 question multiple choice quiz. Get 80% correct and receive a certificate for 2.0 PDH. Here is the link to download everything needed

This would also be a good resource for engineers preparing for the Structural Principles & Practice (PE) Exam.

How difficult is the material compared with your PE exam?

Greg - Based on other material that I have covered with my continuing education PE review students, I would say that difficulty is comparable to concrete problems on the Structural I exam or the afternoon portion of the Civil (Structural) exam.

OK, thanks. I'll have a look.

Hey, how can revision count as education????

I wondered about that, also. Came up with two reasons (justifications)

1. There are plenty of engineers (including me) who do not design "reinforced concrete floor systems" on a day to day basis.

2. The details of how to do design anything are "tweaked" from time to time. I don't know if that is the case here, but this tutorial is based on the latest revision of ACI-318, the 2005 version.
