Wonder what you all do for continuing education requirements for PE registration?

I'm finding that the offerings available are either courses I've already taken, courses that only marginally relate to what I do, or introductory courses for what I've already been doing for 20 years. I can count ethics classes for part of it, but only a part. Involvement in professional organizations is okay, but doesn't really relate to my work, either. Any better ideas?

You can earn PDH hours for developing and presenting a course or seminar. In some states you actually earn earn double the hours for developing and presenting than an attendee of the presentation would earn.

Volunteer to present at a meeting of the local chapter of whatever professional society you might belong to - or even of one that you don't belong to.

Respond to a call for papers for some conference that interests you.

They have hundreds of online courses at a reasonable cost. I even wrote one and get a few bucks every three months.

Nothing says you can't take the same course every couple of years. Makes the testing easier and you get updates on the subject - such as ethics or state rules.

JStephen,

I understand where you are coming from.

I find the US state focus on courses to be a bit counterproductive.

Courses have to have wide appeal so they are not going to cover highly speecialised topics, for these you have to read papers.

All recent research is published in these same articles.

For the experienced engineer I would think that these articles are the best source of learning.

Yet they are not included in most pdh requirements!
