Has anyone get any reliability information on CVT's offered in vehicles?

Several years ago I had the opportunity to rent a Nissan with a CVT. I liked it, but more importantly it was a rental. Rental vehicles probably get more abuse than privately owned vehicles.

CVT is only new to the automotive world. They've been used for decades in Industry call PIV drives or "Posative infinately variable" drives
