Dear all,

Greetings . Hope someone could help me on the query below

Currently, we have seen a paint specification revision from a user requesting contrasting color coating on Multi-Layered coat. This requirement is for valves. We have never seen this requirement before.CAN YOU PLEASE ADVISE THE TECHNICAL REASON FOR THIS REQUIREMENT.

Request your responses and experiences on this subject.

Thanks and Regards,
AP

A couple of reasons....
1 is that the painter can easily distinguish coverage of the subsequent coats.
2 is for destructive testing, you can easily distinguish layers...such as a tooke guage.

Have seen it for internal coatings in abrasive services. Quick visual gut-check for having eaten up half your coating...

Would agree you should ask the user if you're really curious though.
